For the Love of Singing
The Finnish Line is a barbershop chorus based in Helsinki, Finland that seeks to introduce a new generation of talented singers to the barbershop style.
If you're looking for something new and challenging, you'll find us having a blast every Thursday at Erottajankatu 1, Helsinki from 18:00 to 21:00.
Our rehearsals are open to guests, so bring a friend or two!
We’re a bunch of guys that love singing together and are constantly looking for new members to join our ranks.
We enjoy the challenge and fellowship that barbershop provides and want to introduce this genre to a broader audience.
Since our director, Atte Heikkinen, founded The Finnish Line in 2017 after returning home from an exchange semester in the United States, this has been the primary idea guiding us forward towards a bigger and better future.
Our goal is to expose this amazing artform to new Finnish singers, to build a musical heritage of excellence that we can be proud of and to have lots of fun while we're at it!
Singing together changes lives and there’s nothing better than the knowledge, joy and friendships that are acquired along the way.
Nordic Barbershop Excellence
Our repertoire and rehearsal culture are rooted in the North American tradition of barbershop harmony. Barbershop is a form of a cappella characterized by four-part close harmony,
featuring an abundance of dominant seventh chords. Although the style has been around in Finland at least from the 1970's, its position as a viable form of competitive choral music has been lacking until recently.
We continue to strengthen and hone the foundation built by the local pioneers of barbershop singing and our experience is shared by several other European countries, who are taking similar steps along their journey.
It’s an exciting time for modern barbershop, and the Nordics are at the center of it.
